The 2025 SKF/ CNEA supplier conference recently concluded in eastern China's Jiangsu province. During the event, SKF China launched the ground-breaking near-zero-carbon bearing solution, marking a significant milestone for the industry's green transition. CITIC Pacific Special Steel, as SKF China's major partner in powering this innovation, provided key steel for the bearings.

Bearing steel, as a critical raw material for bearing manufacturing, demands the highest performance and quality standards, along with the most complex production processes. Therefore, conducting carbon accounting and footprint tracing poses significant challenges, making it a core obstacle in developing near-zero-carbon bearings.
SKF's new near-zero-carbon bearing, the first of its kind in China, boasts a carbon footprint as low as 0.91 kg CO? eq per bearing. This achievement was accomplished through a manufacturing process that utilizes 100% scrap steel as raw material and is powered entirely by renewable energy.

In recent years, CITIC Pacific Special Steel and SKF Group have collaborated closely on the R&D, manufacturing, and marketing of green, low-carbon products, as well as on enhancing the accuracy and credibility of carbon accounting and footprint assessment. On August 19, 2024, the two parties signed an agreement on Green & Low-carbon Cooperation, marking a new chapter in their comprehensive collaboration for a sustainable future.
